The Department of Mathematics is looking for dedicated individuals to help us fill the following two positions. The new programs will have a large technical aspect associated with them from podcasts and online lectures to interactive websites. There will also be databases containing participate information. Job duties include (but are not limited to): * Assisting with website development and maintenance (possible graphic design work if candidate posses skills) * Helping maintain outreach databases * Providing general assistance to current technical staff * Liaising with Undergraduate, Library and Outreach coordinators in the office and providing technical support * Working with editing video/audio broadcasts, creating podcasts Applicants will be expected to be able to work independently with minimal supervision. A good degree of creativity and an interest in the development of programming would be beneficial. This position is geared towards helping the successful candidate develop and improve their technical skills in a real world environment. They will work with a team that is specialized in IT support and technology development. It is well suited towards students studying, or with a background in, computers. These programs focus on community outreach and recruitment of mathematics students. Some specific programs will focus on under represented groups in mathematics and science (women, minorities, first in family to University, etc) others will focus on enrichment opportunities for advanced students. Job duties include (but are not limited to): * Providing administrative assistance to the program organizer(s) * Taking part in specific events (some weekend work may be required) * Assisting with the development and implementation of high school programs * Helping with development and moderation of website content * Possible visits to local area high schools * Assisting with advertising of programs Applicants will be expected to be able to work independently with minimal supervision. A good degree of creativity and an interest in the development of programming would be beneficial. This position is geared towards helping the successful candidate gain experience working with, and developing programs, for high school students. They will work with a team to create and develop our high school outreach program. It is well suited towards students interested in pursuing education or program development.
