Dear Students,

NSERC has recently announced that the University of Toronto will receive 4 additional USRA awards. These awards can be held during the winter term (16 week term anytime between January 2019 and April 2019).

APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS

Please submit all completed applications to Undergraduate Administrator, Donna Birch at BA6291 by December 6th (firm deadline).  Awards will be allocated to those who meet NSERC’s criteria (see below), if more than 4 applications are received, decisions will be made by ranking applications based on CGPA. NSERC currently requires a CGPA of 2.7 or higher.

USRA CRITERIA

NSERC has strict eligibility rule for holding an NSERC USRA award.

While all USRA eligibility requirements can be found on NSERC’s site: http://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/Students-Etudiants/UG-PC/USRA-BRPC_eng.asp , we wish to draw attention to some of the key eligibility requirements for students wishing to hold one of these awards in the winter term:

  • NSERC currently requires students to have a CGPA of 2.7 or higher.
  • You may hold only one USRA per fiscal year (May 1 to April 30).
  • have completed all the course requirements of at least the first year of university study (or two academic terms) of your bachelor’s degree;
  • you must work full time hours during the tenure of award and not be enrolled in classes
  • have been registered in at least one of the two terms immediately before holding the award in a bachelor’s degree program at an eligible university;
  • be registered, as of the deadline date for applications at the university, in a bachelor’s degree program at an eligible university
  • not have started a program of graduate studies
