MindFest 2017

You are invited to Mindfest on October 4, a FREE, all-day mental health fair!

 As part of National Mental Illness Awareness Week, this event raises awareness about mental health issues, highlights the support systems available to students, faculty and staff, and strives to erase mental health stigma.

Mindfest offers a full day of speakers presenting both lived and professional experience, panel discussions, exhibits and workshops all aimed at opening up conversation around mental health.

 

This year, we are pleased to welcome our keynote speaker Jean-Paul Bedard, an author and endurance athlete who was recently named one of “The Most Inspiring Canadians” by CTV News. He will be speaking on overcoming adversity and finding resilience in your personal and educational life.

 

Topics include:

•         Video game addiction

•         Mental health representations in popular media (addressing 13 Reasons Why, To the Bone & other popular media)

•         Bullying

•         Suicide prevention & awareness

•         Mental Health, Canada & Indigenous reconciliation 

•         Bipolar disorder

•         Schizophrenia

•         Theatre representations of mental health

•         Incorporating mental health in high school curriculum

•         Alcohol Addiction

•         Coping & Resilience

 

Workshops include:

•        Transitioning from high school to university, involving U of T students who will provide mentorship and guidance to your students.

•         Yoga

•         Improvisation

•         Tai Chi
